Trail Description

Saxton Mountain is about a 30 minute drive west from Denver and offers a good days worth of ATV riding. Most of the trails are winding jeep trails with the main attraction being the Spring Creek Trail. The main section of Spring Creek is only about 4 miles long but it is a very technical and challenging large boulder field. It is best to hit Spring Creek in the morning because it can get backed up and crowded in the afternoon.
The rest of Saxton Mountain is rugged rocky terrain with the trails running through large pine trees of the Arapahoe National Forest. The view at the top of Saxton Mountain is a spectacular 360° view of the Rocky Mountains, Georgetown, Empire and I70 heading east and west. There are camping sites at the top of Saxton Mountain as well as dispersed camping sites. There are several abandoned mines throughout the area giving in to the history of the area.
