Another Trail Lost!!!
It's always a sad day we when lose ATV trails, but this one really hurts! Our #4 trail on our top 10 list, Mineral Fork, is going to become wilderness area with Utah Congressman Jim Matheson's new bill. Under the bill, the Mineral Fork ATV trail up Big Cottonwood Canyon would be closed to ATV use.
For years this trail has been in danger of being shut down and unfortunately it's now only a matter of time. Any of you that have had the pleasure of riding this trail know that it's one of the best in Utah and the only ATV trail in the Cottonwood Canyons. There's no other trail that can compete with its incredible views and proximity to home. We ride this trail at least a couple of times a summer and love every minute of it.
This is another painful example of the importance of staying on the trail, treading lightly, and respecting the environment. Unfortunately the environmentalist group all ATV riders in the same category (as careless wilderness destroyers). It's sad that in their efforts to shut trails downs, they actually end up upsetting and working against many of the people that should be working with! We really wish they would begin to understand that for most ATV riders, the environment and the preservation of it is as important for us as it is to them! We cant tell you how many times we've been on the trail and done things to improve the surrounding areas. Please, continue to do your part to protect the environment and keep these beautiful trails open.
