Start planning your Spring MOAB trip!
Well it's that time of year again when we start planning our spring Moab ATV trips. Unfortunately it looks like the atvtrailreviews crew is only going to get to Moab once this spring, but I'm sure a fall trip will be in the works. We've had a lot of questions about ATVing Moab and wanted to give a few suggestions as you plan your trip. Here are a few of our top questions:
1- What Trails should I ride? First of all, that's the equivalent of asking us to pick our favorite child...we love them all the same:). There are so many great trails in Moab, but about a year ago we attempted the impossible and put our top 10 Moab ATV Trails list together. We also put together our list of great Moab ATV trails for families. Go check out these two blogs for help.
2- Where should I stay? The answer to this depends on a number of factors such as how adventurous you are, your budget, how much you like a hot tub after a day of riding, etc. Moab has some incredible campgrounds surrounding the city but we prefer to stay in town.
A few years ago we booked a room at the Moab Valley Inn and haven't stayed anywhere different since. Moab Valley Inn has it all; a hot breakfast in the morning, a great big hot tub, an indoor/outdoor pool, great parking, good beds, big rooms, etc. It's located in the center of town and many restaurants are within walking distance.
Visit www.moabvalleyinn.com or call (435) 259-4419 for details and please tell them that ATV Trail Reviews sent you.
3- When should we go? The spring weather in Moab can be a little hit and miss. Last year we went down the first part of March and rode around with t-shirts on. We went back the first weekend in April and got snowed out...go figure. We recommend booking a trip anytime in March, April, or May, just watch the weather. spring is a popular time in Moab so start booking your trip now!
Make sure when you're booking that you look to see when the big Moab events are. For example, we wouldn't book during the Easter Jeep Safari (the trails are too crowded) and we wouldn't book during the Moab half marathon (the city is too crowded).
Fall is also a great time especially during September or October.
4- Where can I get maps? The best place we've found is the Moab Visitor's Center located on Main Street in the center of town. They have great maps and some great books on Moab ATV Trails. Make sure to get a book that rates the difficulty of each trail so you know what to expect.
5- How many days should I go for? That all depends on how much riding you can handle and how far you have to travel to get there. We normally go down for a full two days of riding. Anymore than that and we're beat. We've heard of groups going down for an entire week, but I'm sure they have to break up their riding.
6- What else should we do? There's too much to list! A great site for finding other activities is www.discovermoab.com.
Hopefully this is helpful. Please feel free to email us at info@atvtrailreviews.com and we'd be happy to answer any other Moab questions you have.
If you've never been on an ATV in Moab, there's nothing like it!!!
