ATV Parts and Accessories
One of my favorite things to do when I visit my local motorsports shop is look at all the different innovative atv accessories and atv parts that I can put on my ATV. I am always looking for a reason to justify my purchase based on some possible emergency concocted from my constant trail riding daydreams. I am sure we are all guilty of "needing" certain things for our ATV's and then realizing that its for an ATV, a recreation vehicle, a motor powered animal guilty of convincing us of its absolute role in our lives... In other words need has nothing to do with it. It's all about what new part or accessory would be so awesome on our ATV making us look and feel like we were the coolest ATV owner on the block. So I came up with a list of things that I see as the most basic of such needs:
1. ATV cover
I am not talking a basic atv Cover here I am talking one that will withstand all exposure. Cabela's has a pretty good one you can get for under a 100 dollars. Its a thick canvas and holds onto your quad through snow, wind, rain etc...
2. Grips
Now I am a fan of new grips for my four wheeler. Some may think it is a wast of time, but I found some that really help my fingers not fall asleep. they are an ergonomic grip that takes pressure off of the ulna nerve. Here's the kicker though it isn't made by an ATV accessory manufacturer, it is made by a bicycle company.
3. Rack Bags
There are so many rack bags out there that it seems that any of them will work.... au contraire mon fraire. I don't like spending any more money than I have to but I have found that generally speaking the more expensive the bag the better the bag, but that is just my opinion.
4. Tie Downs
Not what you would call an atv accessory I guess but a good set of tie downs are invaluable especially on a long haul. I like to get the heavy duty 4000lb ratchet tie downs, simply because the ratchet is stronger and the hooks are bigger.
5. ATV Tires
If you are going to spend money on a four wheeler, then four wheeler tires are probably your best investment. Not only do after market tires offer a better look for your atv, they offer a better wheel protection and overall traction performance.
6. Wheels
And who doesn't want a set of wheels that accent those new tires even more. ATV wheels are definately more than just looks though, in addition to new tires adding protection to your wheels, new wheels will also wear better than the OEM steel wheels.
