Trail Description

This is a great trail. The first mile and a half up the canyon is a shell covered steep trail. After you clear that stretch it's pretty easy going. Views from the top are great. This trail goes from the bottom of Mona Pole Canyon past the salamander ponds, some old mines and ends up at the parking lot of the monument on the Nebo loop.

Take I-15 South to Exit # 233 and go west. Turn right (North) on Main Street. Turn right (East) on 1800 North toward the Mona Cement Plant. When you get to the cement plant/gravel pit turn right. If you go through the plant you end up going up a false canyon that dead ends very quickly. Then you can take a trail that also dead ends and then finally a trail that eventually leads you to the actual trailhead. Or you can just turn right and skip all that fun stuff. The first part of the trail is very steep and loose. It flattens out eventually and goes through some really pretty meadow areas. The scenery on this ride is seriously some of the best I've seen anywhere. Lots of trees and streams. The trail is technical enough to be fun but not frustrating.
