Trail Description
Miners Gulch is a fun ride especially in the late spring because North Clear Creek is usually flowing pretty good and the trail actually goes up the creek for a spell and can be kind of challenging when the water is high. Getting to Miners Gulch in late spring can also be challenging due to the possible snow drifts that may still cover the road. Miners Gulch is about 7 miles from the trail head so make sure you have a good map, good tires and a good ATV winch.
After Miners Gulch it's on to Kingston Peak and again you may need a winch in the late spring for getting though the many possible snow drifts. Typically by mid July the trail is pretty clear. Kingston Peak is also the home of St. Mary's Glacier. The trail up to Kingston Peaks offers some spectacular views. A popular break spot is the "Rock House". Tradition has it, when you arrive, you stack a rock on it to help build it and it seems to be getting bigger every year.
After Kingston Peak the trail takes you down to the town of Alice and from there over to Yankee Hill.
Yankee Hill offers a steep rocky climb to the top where the trail dead-ends. After coming back down off of Yankee Hill take the trail back to the cemetery. This trip takes a good day especially if you explore some of the side trails.
