Trail Description

Hey Joe Canyon is a beautiful trail along the green river that eventually leads to the Hey Joe mine. To get there, take Highway 191 north out of Moab to Highway 313 (the turnoff that takes you to Canyonlands National Park). Follow 313 until you see the Dubinky Well Road on the right (not marked) and take that road. Follow Dubinky Well road until you hit the Spring Canyon Bottom Road. Most riders will stage here and ride into Hey Joe Canyon from the Spring Canyon Road. This is a tricky trail head to reach and it's recommended to pick up some good maps or books in Moab that give detailed turn by turn directions on how to get here.

This trail is mostly moderate with a few tricky areas and one water crossing that can be difficult on an ATV. The trail follows along the green river most of the way until it branches off and head towards Hey Joe Canyon and Mine. The mine as well as an old abandoned mining truck are neat to see. Stay out of the mine when you reach it. This is an out and back trail.
