Trail Description
Hells Revenge is rated as the top trail for many Utah ATV riders and is one of the top Moab ATV trails. The trail contains some long steep climbs on slickrock that are intimidating your first time on the trail. For Google Map directions to the trail head from Center St and Main in Moab Click Here
There are some obstacles that you can opt out of and others that you are forced to tackle. Most of this trail is on slickrock (sandstone) mixed in with a lot of sand. Towards the end of the trail there are some good boulder fields that get a little tricky to navigate.
At a moderate rate of travel on 4 wheelers by experienced riders, this trail can be completed in a couple of hours. If you are in a big group and have riders that need assistance climbing steep obstacles, allow up to four hours to complete.
The trail is marked pretty well with yellow flame symbols painted on the rocks. This trail intersects several times with the Slick Rock Bike Trail - be advised that 4 wheelers are NOT allowed on the Slick Rock Bike Trail and you will ticketed if caught, however motorcycles are allowed on either trail.
There are many optional obstacles on Hell's Revenge that advanced riders can test their skills on. Some of these obstacles include Hell's Gate, Potato Salad Hill, Tip-over Challenge, the Escalator, Rubble Trouble, and the Hot Tubs (aka Mickey's Hot Tub). Check out our video page to see some great footage of these obstacles. Several of the obstacles on this trail will leave you wondering how anyone ever thought of attempting the obstacle in the first place.
This is not a good first Moab area trail to ride. Riders that can tackle the obstacles on Finns & Things will still struggle with portions of this trail. We advise that first time riders go with someone who has ridden it before and carry a map.
Please review our Terms and Conditions before riding this trail and always remember to Tread Lightly.

Hells is by far one of the best (if not the best) trials in the state. The surroundings are beautiful and the riding is first class. There are some crazy obstacles on this ride that most people pass up. I can't believe you guys actually took a four wheeler up the escalator and hells gate...that's crazy! I've always rode by those obstacles and thought there's no way an ATV can make it up. Kudos to you guys for even attempting it. Definitely NOT a trail for beginners as there are several long steep climbs that would make a rookie pass out. I'd also recommend an ATV with 4x4 for this trail.
This is a must ride trail for every serious ATV rider in the state. Make sure to be respectful of the Jeeps...we need to play together.
Hell's Revenge is one of my all-time favorite trails in Moab. You can ride it nice an easy, or balls out. Hope you enjoy it.
By far one of the best Moab Trails! This is what people come to Moab to ride. The long slickrock runs are an absolute blast and watching some of the jeeps on the obstacles like Hell's Gate make you wonder what these guys are thinking. NOT a trail for the family and only advanced riders with the right machines should attempt Hells.
Hells is a great trail...for the experienced rider. I've been on this trail with several people that lacked proper skill and machines and it's NOT fun. But on the right day with the right group, I'd be hard pressed to think of another trail that I'd rather be on (maybe some sections of the Paiute). This is also a really fun trail to watch the jeeps ride the obstacles. On a popular weekend, you get crowds watching every obstacle and it's really fun. Don't ride this trail over the jeep safari...way too crowded to get around the jeeps.
I have taken several groups of riders on this trail I have seen one rider climb an optional obstacle that he had NO business climbing, his spotter failed to grab his front rack in time and the guy flipped his ATV off a 10 foot rock right onto the front rack. We had to unbolt his rack, drive over it on the slick rock to bend it back in shape and then we were able to get 2 of the 4 bolts back in for the rest of the ride. Fortunately he was not hurt and he took a healthy blow to his ego that kept him in check the rest of the ride.
I have also seen a few accidents on this trail. Fortunately nothing but cosmetic damage to machines and injured pride. This ride is not a family ride. I have noticed that some of the most popular Moab ATV Trail publications don't list this as an ATV trail, but for the experienced rider this trail is the post card ride for the slickrock trails in this area.
