Trail Description

Moab's Flat Iron Mesa ATV trail is a fun trail with a good mix of sand, slickrock, and views. Flat Iron is located South of Moab about 17 miles and about 2.4 miles past the Hole-in-the-Rock Home. Look for the trail on the right hand side of the road.

Flat Iron Mesa has two well know obstacles (both with alternative trails) known as Tilt-a-Whirl and Easter Egg hill. The trail has a long stretch of slickrock know as the red brick road. There are also some great places to see such as Hatch Wash (about a 700 ft drop), Flat Iron Butte, and Coyote Canyon. Flat Iron is one of the more difficult trails to follow because of long slickrock runs and dozens of alternative routes. It's important to have a good GPS system and a map in order to follow the trail and see the good sites.
