Why The Tree Huggers Continue to Win Submitted by admin on Tue, 06/23/2009 - 20:52

On a recent trip we came to a point in the trail where it was easy to tell ATV traffic used to be allowed but has since been prohibited. It was clear from the double track nature of the trail it had been created by four wheel drive traffic. The sign that used to indicate that ATV traffic was allowed had been altered with a diagonal red stripe. That diagonal red stripe stands as a tick mark in loss column for ATV riders – yes the environmentalists beat us again.

Bryce Canyon Area ATV Trails Submitted by admin on Thu, 06/18/2009 - 20:32

Garfield County gets a big thumbs up for being friends of ATV riders. The County has published two FREE informational maps that separate the the county roads and trails into two sections, the Henry Mountains, and the Paunsaugunt. These maps identify trails like Casto Canyon that are not accessible by vehicles wider than 50 inches so you UTV folks don’t get surprised. The area where the maps fall short is in describing the technical nature of the trails and the skill level needed to ride them.

You can pick up these free maps at the Forest Service Visitor Center in Red Canyon between Panguitch and Bryce Canyon.

Free Arapeen Trail Map Submitted by admin on Wed, 06/17/2009 - 20:21

I'm sure many avid Utah ATV riders came home today to a pleasant surprise in the mailbox...a free map of the Arapeen trail, courtesy of Sanpete County. This map was built for ATV riders and has all sorts of details such as trail difficulties, staging areas, ATV only trails, campgrounds, GPS points, etc.

I went to www.sanpete.com and found the same map that you can download for free! It was also interesting that the site mentions that the Arapeen Trail has over 1,000 miles of trails. After looking at the map and all the different places to ride, I would have to agree. The site also has some great pictures and videos.
